Yes! Absolutely. My husband got a pet cat for his dog- the dog adored him. When the cat died prematurely, he replaced the cat- again the dog adored her.

I used to have a big male Siamese cat who loved taking care of other cats. He absolutely doted on them and would bring them his toys and wash them and snuggle with them. He had two pet cats of his own (but he let me call them my pets, too... and I had to buy the cat food!)

Koko the gorilla had a pet cat.

I know a guy who got a pet budgie for his Jenday Conure. They are great friends.

Many people get second pets to keep first pets company. While they're also the pet of the human, they are definitely also the pet of the pet!

we adopted two kittens a few weeks ago but the dog loves them she will take the smaller of the two for a walk to the Field down the bottom of the garden waits for her to wee then waits for her to come back the kitten follows her everywhere even cuddle into each other. that's as close as my dog can get to a pet

Of course. My pet rabbit has her own pet rabbit who she looks after, keping him clean, sharing her food with him etc. He isn't allowed a pet of his own though - it's got to stop somewhere, or where would it end?!

I've heard stories of cats that have befriended mice and ducklings and not harmed them but only nurturerd and protected them and I even saw film of a lioness who took on a baby gazelle, until it was killed by other lions.
So, yes, I suppose so.
My dog and my cats have always got on well and seem good friends.

Yes very much indeed, every animal likes to nurture others, my dogs take care of my cats, my cats have each other nd they all take care of me and my husband. So we are their pets.

Sure. We had a big, white dog who just LOVED baby kitties. He would sit very still and let them climb all over him and romp around him and you could see his eyes quietly watching them. And if another dog came near or tried to hurt them, he would chase away the other dog. He was very protective of them.

If they have babies I guess that they are technically their pets too. My dog loves some of my teddies, but I don't think that counts?
