My modem acts as a router and it hooked up to a switch, the switch it hooked into a patch panel. I can not move the modem away from that spot because it needs to hook into the patch panel. I would like wireless access in a different room, but how do I set a wireless router to do that without running into a double nat?

You can turn off DHCP on the wireless router and let the original router do the DHCP.

You can use a Wireless Access Point rather than a wireless router as it has no DHCP ability.

You probably need to run a wired line from your network switch to the wireless device. You may be able to put the wireless in an attic or basement and this may simplifiy the connection.

Depends on your wireless router, but I set mine up as a Wireless Access Point (WAP)
