Hi! The doctor sent me for a routine AFP blood test because i didn't want to have the amniocentesis or any invasive testing. The results came back within normal range. Should i still worry that there is anything wrong with the baby?

Relax! It is in our nature to worry about the well-being of our unborn baby, but sometimes our worrying actually harms the baby. If there was anything amiss, you would be sent in for an actual amnio straight away. The AFP prevents you from going through that procedure when it isn't necessary by prescreening you.

Sit back, relax, and enjoy the next five months of your pregnancy...assuming you are around 16 weeks, of course. You are expecting a healthy baby!! It's time to celebrate!

Congrats!!

While there is a slight chance that something could be wrong, chances are everything is great! Try to relax and enjoy your pregnancy! Congrats....

there are things that are not picked up by AFP test, but they are very rare. Chances are you are A-ok!
