I believe that tmobile is your best bet if you are thinking of going anywhere public like Borders or Barnes and Noble. Sprint is a weird one in that it only works in certain geographic areas. I ran into this problem in Kansas City when I lived there. hope this helps

Just go to your local best buy and get a wireless card that is pretty affordable. Look for something that at least says "Wireless G". Wireless B signal is outdated and not very well ranged. Some good brands include D-Link and Linksys, but it shouldnt matter that much. I always have trouble getting my computer to detect the card, but after fiddling around, you will get it. Im not sure if the laptop ones come with antennas, but make sure its a screw on type and it doesnt just slide on. They usually come with a cd you put it and if it detects the card, you are good to go. Just so we are clear, you need a router for a wireless internet card. Hope this helps :)

EDIT: Ahhh I see, you aren't just talking about wireless for home use, i don't know if I can help with that

Then you are not looking for Wi-Fi cards at all, they are rare and expensive but there are GPMS/EDGE and one other type of MAN card, usually in the CompactFlash style. There will be needing the same kind of data plan as PDA smartphones.

I saw one when I were curious and browsing through HP's iPaq official store.
