Yes it has with the lack of diplomacy in the Bush Administration. We didn't agree with the USSR, but still talked with them all of the time during the Cold War era.

It certainly has, the world wide perception of America is now on a par with Nazi Germany in the late 1930s. However if you read "What Uncle Sam Really Wants" by Noam Chomsky you will see that the current administration have really just been escalating an existing trend in U.S. foreign policy. It`s not as if the Iraq war was the first blemish on an otherwise faultless system of government.

Yes I certainly believe it has. That is based not only on my impresssion but surveys and studies done of Europe and Africa and Asia. I believe that when our nation does things such as run secret prisons and tortures pow's then it goes against all our nations stands for. I realize these are dangerous and trying times however if we abandon our principles and ethics then we ourselves become no better than our enemies. Also we have ignored the United Nations and brought serious damage to that entire process by doing so. The UN certainly has a lot of faults but it is indeed the only international process for seeking a diplomatic solution to a global problem or a problem between two nations. By damaging that process we have essentially moved further away from the concepts of global peace and closer to the environment which existed prior to World War II. These I believe to be the facts. I think the United States has a lot of changing it needs to do if we hope to fix our reputation and our problems.

The world's oil companies are not all based in the U.S. Britain has oil companies and a few others. The forced privatization of the world's oil fields means countries are forced to allow foreign investment i.e., foreign ownership of their oil fields. Other western countries with oil corps. are expected to 'come around' and see the opportunities. The neocons weren't expecting other western nations to be hampered by ethics. Of course, for those countries that have nationalized resources, they're arming themselves and preparing for war. Top 3 countries with nationalized oil fields? Iraq, Iran, Venezuela. Mexico is falling in line with Bush, probably in exchange for keeping the border open, and for not interfering in Mexico's internal affairs.
As for the other 190 or so countries in the world, they know what's going on. Forced privatization of the world's oil and mineral resources and exploitation of cheap labor. The planet welcomes a Democrat in the White House.

yes.

American foreign policy should seek an America at peace with the world and the defense -- against attack from abroad -- of the lives, liberty, and property of the American people on American soil. Provision of such defense must respect the individual rights of people everywhere.

The principle of non-intervention should guide relationships between governments. The United States government should return to the historic libertarian tradition of avoiding entangling alliances, abstaining totally from foreign quarrels and imperialist adventures, and recognizing the right to unrestricted trade, travel, and immigration.

Yes, when was the last time the U.S. ignored the countries of the world and the U.N. to wage a war in a foreign country, When was the last time talk of a "new" cold war was heard. When was the last time our president was mocked by another countries leader as in Iran, and Argentina. Name not damaged, people will still be envious of what we have in this country, but integrity and influence has definitely been damaged.

I don't consider myself affiliated with any party or organization and I answer yes to this question. I have been to quite a few countries and they do not revere the United States the way they once did. I do not put all of the blame on President Bush, there has been quite a few presidents and other politicians of both parties who have contributed to this over the decades.

People (and countries) respect a group that says what it means and means what it says. Our faltering resolve is damaging our influence for sure. Our unwillingness to fight this war to win, makes us look weak in the eyes of other countries. It also brings into question our integrity. We tell Iraqis that we will stay with them until they are secure, but now that resolve is highly in question...which effects our integrity. That weak resolve has to make our "friends" wonder just how much they could count on us if they had trouble...and I can certainly understand how they might feel that way.

edit: Just so there is no misunderstanding, when I am speaking of our lack of resolve...I'm talking about the American people and politicians...not the soldiers.

The name, yes. The integrity - you mean we had some, once? The influence, not so much. Money and military buys influence. We've still got those things. =)
