Why would one support funding over the other?

Right now, the Democrats would spend more money on chemistry related research simply because they have control of both the House and the Senate. However, for the past 13 years, the Republicans have been in control, so they would have been the spending party. Even with the Democrats in control of both houses of Congress, spending still has to pass President Bush who is a Republican. So, I guess, it's still the Republicans.

The Democrats, because they are more interested in research on everything. The Republicans only want to spend money on the stupid Iraq war, and their stupid puppet in D.C.
