Pelosi touted reform and now lets the Chairmen hide pork in slushfunds and hiding the sponsors of the earmarks from public view. Watch your wallets they are going to get lighter.

Your point is taken. Democrats were elected to change the way government is doing business but are reverting to the ways they have been left out of for the past ten years. It is unfortunate but predictable.

We need to pay attention to both parties and demand accountability. Republicans and Democrats need to be called out within their parties and face opposition in their primaries to change the culture. We desperately need leadership. Those that don't agree with the process need to call their own party out for this. The Republicans did not call out their leadership and so far I don't see any Democrats calling out their leadership. Calling out the other party only seems like sour grapes and doesn't change anything, since their hands are already dirty.

Maybe this issue should be raised in the Presidential debates and see what the potential leader feels about their own party's transgressions. If they spend their time focusing on the other party they will have demonstrated their lack of ability to lead.

No not at all, it's exactly what I expected and her pet monkey on a stick {Murtha} is one of the biggest culprits and the have changed the procedure when a bill is sent up for consideration {see scuttling if it's not left enough} to move all earmarks to the final phase of the operation, then no one can stop the PORK add on's

All those earmarks like the bridge to the little island off of Alaska happened while we had a Republican congress. (The bridge has already been built.) Earmarks have been going on forever. It's the way the congress compromises. (I'll vote for your bill if you will include. . .).

Questions like these only serve to widen the chasm, when all of us need to start working together to improve our government. Stop posting this kind of half-informed nonsense that you get from news broadcasters who are only trying to stir people up, and spend your time finding out what is really going on. Don't just watch one station. Email your congressmen and let them know how you feel about issues, and remind them that they promised to represent the people of their district or their state. Good luck.

Both major political parties have grown so corrupt and filled with greed they do whatever to enhance their own positions with little regard for the people of America. We should vote them out and elect a third party because promoting and supporting the same people and situations will only lead to the same consequences.

What I find amazing is that some people honestly believed that the liberals were going to reform washington, when anyone could tell you, that they were just going to push the status quo as they saw it, and yell at the Republicans for being so bad.

Do you know how the budget process works?

Earmarks don't usually increase spending. They just allocate spending to a specific place that would otherwise be at the discretion of the agency involved. The subcommittee doing the spending gets the same amount whether they earmark some of it or not.

Its terrible and completely hypocritical of her.

However, with so much public scrutiny, I doubt that they will outdo the GOP controlled congress, which had almost 15,000 earmarks for $25 billion worth of pork, in 2006 spending bills alone.

Yep that's why Palosi only has a 27% approval rating and Harry Reid is at 18%.... what suprised most is it only took 8 months for the Democrats to drive away any gains they made out of the 06 election.....
