You are right, they need to make moves as soon as they lose the Finals. They only got to the Finals because of a weak Eastern Conference. There is no competition there and their only real test came against the Pistons who are fading fast. This explains why they are folding against the Spurs. The Cavs really don't have a great PG, which is what they will go after in the off-season. They also need a good SG to ease some of the pressure off of LeBron. Chauncy Billups, who will be a free agent this year, is a PG the Cavs should really consider wooing.

like most people have said, the Cavs are still in the playoffs so they can't really focus on trades anyway. There's still a few weeks before the draft and even longer before teams can talk to free agents on July 1 anyway. So there's no point in getting involved in a lot of these "talks" that are mostly chatter anyway. Plus, by starting trade talks, you lose the confidence in your own players. Imagine if you were Daniel Gibson or Drew Gooden and people are ALREADY talking about you getting traded. What's your incentive to play hard now for a team that doesn't even want you?
That being said, I don't see how they could "easily" get a guy like rashard or mo. First of all, the team is going to be paying $64 million (more than 10 mil over the cap) and 12 mil of that is going to a guy who can't shoot and is constantly injured (hughes). No one wants to take his large salary and injury prone, poor shooting so he's untradable. The other 12 and 10 mil are going to Lebron (who the team won't trade) and Z (who the team for some reason loves and even if they didn't, they can't trade him either cause's he's a poor man's Chris Kaman). Plus they already want to resign Varejao despite that bad last play. Point is, the Cavs don't have attractive pieces to offer a great trade, mainly because of the bust that is Hughes.

The Cavs will probably never get Billups. He is too expensive and is asking way to much money for what the Cavs have to offer. Also Gibson is a great PG start him. Give him expirence and he will do great things. Eric Snow dump him and look for a more expirenced PG or SG that isn't looking for alot of money. Larry Hughes has his good and bad days. They are looking at better players, but can't do anything till the Finals are done. The only player they need to drop is Eric Snow.

Currently they are trying to come back from a 3-0 deficit in the NBA Finals. I think they are a little bit busy for that right now. People don't make moves in the middle of the playoffs. Give them a game to lose it, and then judge them for what moves they do or do not make.

You can't make moves until you're out of the playoffs...
