I'd have liked the paddling option...

Both.

But I'll never in my life ever forget the paddling. The teacher wouldn't do it herself. Instead..... she brings the coach in there. Here I am a 13 year old girl about to get paddled by a male coach. Do you SEE anything wrong with this??

What made it worse was that he brought his own paddle with him. One he had actually drilled holes in so that the air could escape as the wood met hienie. To say that this caused excrusiating pain would be such an understatement. I couldn't move for days. Do you see anything with THIS as well??

So now....... I'm that teacher. lol I see my kids do things soooooo much worse than I ever attempted to do. Do I paddle them? Make them write sentences? lol no..... I threaten to go Mary Kay Laturno on them if they don't straighten up and fly right. *cough* (yes....... yes I"m more than joking people).

Lesson: Be good and don't be late for class. *cough*

I once got a paddling. I was in the second grade, and for some reason (I can't remember now), I punched the teacher in the nose - on purpose. I got sent to the school master's office, and being a stupid idiot, I remember jumping up and punching him in the face.

I then remember getting a paddling.

Then, I got home, and got another one from mum.

Its been a long time since then, but I still remember that :|

In 2nd grade, my 'violation' was "running on the blacktop" (asphalt area of playground...why they'd make it asphalt where kids will naturally run is beyond me) back in 1964/1965. The teacher took me to the back of the room and paddled me over it.
If I had ever been disciplined by writing lines on the blackboard, I do not recall. The paddling made a stronger impression on me.

Neither of those was an option. We got sent to the office and our parents were called when we did something bad. I can't speak for all kids, but that was worse for me than a paddling or writing lines!

1. In elementary I did lines about 25 times 500 lines it all depended on the severity of my bad deeds. 2. Between 1985 and 1990 3. During class time as punishment for several class infractions. 4. It was fun cause I did not do class activities, and sometimes yeah it did get boring but most of the the time I enjoyed it. 5. Actually no It never hurt my hand I had a method I used and it worked for me great.

A Blast from the Past..

Id take those lines any day, but really was not an option Hmm, what did I do.... Oh I remember .... Took some thing from some one or just flat out hit them or tossed gum in someone hair, or even laughed at my Teacher but ..My Teacher did the paddling, before that they would call another Teacher over to witness it. "Bend over and grab your ankles!" "Crack,crack,crack!"... Boy did those hallways echo, echo, echo .. That's not the BAD part, I got more when I got home, I always tried to make that walk home last forever, but it never worked. THEN I was grounded for weeks! Hahaha Remember That? ~ Thanks for the Memories~

Actually, both!

I'm a teacher now, and I think this country is so sue-happy and wussified! I went when corporal punishment was allowed, and I've been on the receiving end of the paddle a few times! I was SCARED to go to the principal's office. Heck, I'm scared to go to the principal's office now!

There is definitely a correlation between the outlawing of corporal punishment and the rise of suspensions/detentions and crimes against teachers. Bring back corporal punishment!!

The paddling was always much better....Get it over quickly and move on. Of course now days society has wimped out and not many schools do paddling.
