"Rurouni Kenshin" is kind of like "GetBackers", only it took place in late 19th century Tokyo and not modern Tokyo. Its best episodes to me is when Kenshi is doing his day to day chores.
"Black Cat" is kind of like "GetBackers", a group of mercenaries ("Erasers") in a modern fantasy world (think magic, sword fighting, and a totally different world map) involved in a big adventure, with some hilarious moments in a break here and there.
"Cowboy Bebop" is a story about a group of bounty hunters travelling in the solar system, it has a much darker tone than "GetBackers", but it also has a few funny scenes and episodes like"GetBackers".
All three stories have the following things in common with "GetBackers":
- a killer seeking for redemption but don't look like a professional killer. Kenshi in "Rurouni Kenshin", Train in "Black Cat", Spike in "Cowboy Bebop", and Ginji in "GetBackers".
- a lot of martial art scenes
- a 'hot' adult woman interested in making a buck. Megumi in "Rurouni Kenshin", Rinse in "Black Cat", Faye in "Cowboy Bebop", and Hevn in "GetBackers".
- the funniest episodes tend to get all comedical
- it involve mercenaries and so on.
I recommend "Rurouni Kenshin" since it's quite similiar to "GetBackers". "Black Cat" is a good alternative, but it's quite a bit different. "Cowboy Bebop" is more a different thing, but it's still similiar enough.
All three though don't offer a boy love couple like "GetBackers" with Ban and Ginji.
As for someone who is like Mido Ban.
I recommend Nekki Basara from "Macross 7", who is the lead vocal and guitarist for the band Fire Bomber, they both look like twins. The scene when Ban played a violin is just uncanny.
Basara though don't share Ban's money grabbing and greedy personality, but can be as mischevious as him.
"Macross 7"'s world is what happened if mid 90's Japan is in space travelling the cosmos, just like the originial "Chou Jikuu Yousai Macross"'s world is what happened if mid 80's Japan is in space travelling the cosmos.
As for someone who is like Kazuki.
I'm a really rusty in my "GetBackers" knowledge, wasn't he the cross dressing recovery agent (GetBacker)?
"Rurouni Kenshin" have something similiar, but he was more interested on being a woman than just dressing like a woman, he's quite pretty though.
Narumi from "Gakuen Alice" ("Alice Academy") is quite a pretty guy and loves to dress pretty.
If you're looking for Amano Ginji in "GetBackers" type, then I recommend Ukiya Shun from "GateKeepers" and Bit Cloud from "Zoid Shin Seiki Slash Zero" (or something like that), and maybe even Cloud from the game Kingdom Hearts. Ukiya and Bit aren't as innocent boy-ish as Ginji, but both have his relaxed nature and boyish. All three of them were voiced by Sakurai Takahiro.
