ok well Brandon up above had the best answer so far. the reason is because they want that gamebreaker like a Michael Vick or Donovan McNabb. Leftwich and Gerrard are fast not to mention Leftwich is a frickin monster how big he is. i know ur not just being a racist but the Jags just want these players because they fit into their system well and they want to add that extra dimension for their offense of the QB running the football

Though this is a strange basketball question I will take a shot at it. The race of the QB has nothing to do with it.
The Jaguars are reportedly interested in Daunte Culpepper and their starter is Byron Leftwich. Given this, I would imagine the reason is that Del Rio likes big quarterbacks. And these two are a couple of the biggest in the league.
The trend in the NFL as a whole is towards more mobile and athletic quarterbacks. As D-Lines get faster, the QB must also to avoid those sacks and make plays happen. Coincidently, mobile, athletic quarterbacks happen to be black more often than not.
P.S. I guess the race does have something to do with it. They do have to be part of the HUMAN RACE.

R U RACIST? any way, maybe management thought the ones they picked were good. If they develop Q. Gray, he could have the starting job. Garrard is better than Leftwich but only good enough to be a elite backup. Always-injured Leftwich has got to improve or leave the NFL. my opinion.
