At Jo-Anns, patterns are often less than 2 dollars. There are special racks of EZ-sew patterns for beginners. There's a limit to what you can get on the internet for free. People who share free patterns tend to assume a certain skill level.

Yeah, you're better off buying a pattern. Simplicity makes some "sew easy" patterns, and they're about 5$ each at Joanne Fabrics. You could also check out some books from your local library on how to sew.

Try looking on about.com's sewing site. There are some free patterns there, but also 'Sewing 101' lessons.

However, it is a LOT easier to buy some patterns once you get started - you can't print patterns from your computer very easily, and the cheap ones are generally easy for beginners.

real patterns in real sizes need to be purchased, go to walmart or joanns and look at the pattern books but your best bet is the see and sew patterns, they are simple ideas and the patterns are cheaper to start with, all of the major pattern companies have that type of pattern, simplicity, butterick and mccalls
