moises alou and jorge posada have spoken about it and YES IT IS TRUE AND YES IT DOES WORK

to all the idiots out there, your pee contains lots of salts. peeing on your hands toughens the skin by killing the outer layer, causing a thin layer of dead skin cells to form over the top

catchers do this to toughen up their hands so that they dont feel the stings of fastballs

Reportedly Moises Alou claimed he does (or did) as a way of toughening his skin. This sounds enough like a folk remedy-type method that he may have gotten it from his father or uncles. I've never heard of such a thing other than in regards to Alou. Why not you go give it a try and let us know what you find out?

Yes, some MLB players/hitters have admitted to peeing on their hands to harden the skin to treat and prevent blisters.

I know Moise Alou (used to play for the Cubs and Giants) admitted to peeing on his hands. It is supposed to harden the skin. Make your hands tougher.

Moises Alou does. It toughens up his hands. He doesn't wear batting gloves
