Because they believe they are playing "Robinhood," and in case they get shot, they have one last minute to confess and ask for forgiveness for all their SIN$ at one time, before they take their last breath. Not realizing they're most likely going straight to HELL, since they $old their lives to $ATAN a long time ago!

I have never seen a "gangster" with a rosary...where do you live? In a highly Catholic Area I am guessing. Anyways, being dangerous does not mean that you dont and cant believe in a higher power. God is not anymore mine then someone elses...I say let them wear the rosary- it may be the only decent thing they have done...it may remind them that there is more to life then what they know...

growing up in East Los Angeles gave me an understanding for other life cultures and traditions. In the gangsters life he often tries to prove his loyalty and dedication to things that really matter in that type of lifestyle. In their case, it would be homeboys, family, and God. After all, a gangster needs to have a close relationship with the guy with whom they hope to be meeting at any given moment.

Well, I can't say that it's because they are so spiritually connected and religiously involved, but it could be a symbol of who they think they are. They may parallel their lives to that of Jesus. Everyone has their own struggle and each of us thinks that ours is tougher than the next person's. Maybe they relate to Jesus' story and wear it to symbolize their struggle? Who knows? I doubt they even know.
You mean crosses not rosaries, right?

Ever hear of the Crusades? Those gangsters also carried crosses, were terribly violent, profited enormously, and weren't held accountable for their actions.

the reason that they wear rosaries is that they dont know if everytime they go out theyll return alive so its away of preparing for the worst being at peace with them selfs

Catholicism can be a part of a person's life due to their upbringing, but their lifestyle is justified in thier mind as "it's a tough world," these people in gangs truly believe that there is not other way to live. They feel that this justifies any sins they may commit while they are still part of a gang.

im pretty sure they dont wear them for religious reasons. and if they do catholics believe they can repent and be forgiven so it would make sense to be able to do what you want and be forgiven 5 seconds after..guess they are making it easier by wearing the rosaries...

Not all of them do.
Some people try very hard to be of faith. But we are human so we fail.
Many of them will die. We should all pray for them. Pray that God opens their eyes to the danger they're in.
