.....moan constantly about your wife to all and sundry, hardly ever spend quality time with her, never invite her on nights out with your work colleagues, not want to start a family with her, sleep with another woman and tell them you love them but won't leave your wife for her?!

From the answers already received; I want to add that I am not the wife or the mistress mentioned here..... Just want to know why someone would do this as it makes absolutely no sense to me at all... Help understanding the male mind needed as surely if you are unhappy in a relationship you would just end it and if there was someone else you supposedly loved you would get with them - or is this just too much like common sense?!

Because he wants the security of a wife, a home, something that he can be proud of, and feel secure in.
On the other hand, 'security' can also mean boring, so he wants the other woman to add some excitement to his life, yet he doesn't want to loose his security.
If this is the case, I can't ever see him leaving his wife, sorry

Been there done that. Cost me a lot of money to get myself free. But then again, that was years ago and I grew up a bit emotionally and objectively sought a partner that would put up with my remaining faults and have made the descision to remain her best friend. The rest is easy. Life is too short to have your wife as an enemy. lol

I would just like to say to the people on here that the lady answering the question is not saying ALL men behave like this, she is simply asking for a male view.

If you are the other woman, which I'm presuming you are, then he is using every line in the book to get you in bed.
He won't leave his wife because deep down he loves her. It's that simple. More often than not, men who have affairs are doing so out of boredom or stress in a marriage they do not want to end.
Find someone available. You are nothing but sex to him.

Because these men that you meat are animals.I would never treat my wives this way.If a man ever does this just 1 time be rid of them straight away yes.But remember that it is the girls who also do this too.
