I used to use diazinon around the perimeter of the house but it is no longer available. Other granular pesticides are not working nearly as well. I can take a shovel and turn over the dirt in any area around the house and it explodes with ants.

I tried it all, and it only worked for a short time. I eventually hired a pest control company to come out every six months ($250 a year) to spray.

That works very well for not only ants, but spiders, roaches, etc.

There are two ways of getting rid of such pests.

1. Boric Acid mixed with sugar (50/50) - put it all around your home and they will carry it back to their nests and kill off the whole family.

2. Put a thick mark of chalk around your whole house and they will not cross it.

Thank you for your question.

you are going about it totally the wrong way , you sound like George bush , ants are creatures they are highly organized and intelligent we all have to share the space we live in , could be they lived there before you, take a look at them close up, study them, get to know them , and then decide if you still want to wipe them off the face of the planet

I would try diatomaceous earth, it's environmentally friendly and it works; can get it at about any home/garden supply for cheap.
