For years I could use the D-link DI_624 (rev.C) with every computer in the house. All machines could access the internet and see each other. Lately I haven't been able to use my router to get the work laptop to the internet, but it could be seen on the network. It worked if I took the router out of the loop. Yesterday I re-set it to factory defaults and re-ran the wizard. Everything looked great, but before I could try the laptop I created the next problem. I got the current firmware, & that cut ALL of us from the internet, although all can still be seen on the network. Resetting to factory defaults doesn't get rid of the firmware. I tried a new DI-524 I had, but that didn't help. I have re-set everything multiple times & checked all connections. I'm willing to buy a new router, but I'm afraid it won't make any difference because I have some setting fouling things up. I can still get to the internet without the router. What settings should I be checking?

Taba - I tried the WAN settings you suggested. Zoomtown tells me they are not using PPPoE and I should select Dynamic IP address. (Did that). Could I have set something in Windows that would account for this? Network or internet settings? I'm not sure how I could have, since I can access the internet directly through the modem and I can access the network (but not the internet) through the router.

You need to configure the WAN section of your router to connect to the internet.

Log into the router and click on the WAN Button.
You are using DSL so you will select PPPOE as your connection type
Then Below that select Dynamic PPPOE and type in your Username and password you use to connect to your internet service provider.

Also make sure the ethernet cable from your modem is connected into the routers WAN Port and not one of the regular ethernet ports.

That should do it, You might need to reboot the modem and router afterwords......

Your not giving the most important details to your problem what ip information are you using internally. Can you ping the router? Can you ping a site on the internet like yahoo.com. Most new installations like this and not working have a problem with dns addresses. try putting the external dns address in your dhcp setting instead of the ip address of the router.
