How long after stopping breastfeeding does it takes for your periods to return?

It depends on the woman when her cycle starts again. Some women have periods even while breastfeeding- like me! Some don't have any until they start to ween, and some don't have one for a few months after they stop. It's all hormone related.

Variable - it can come whilst you are still breastfeeding (the case with both of mine, periods came when son was 6 months old and second time when daughter was 9 months), soon after stopping, or not for months. Just use contraception if you don't want another just yet, and enjoy the period-free time whilst you can.

i dont think there is one definitive date for this as it can vary alot. I got my periods back at 5 months despite exclusively feeding. A friend didnt get hers back for the duration (15 months), even when down to one fed a day.

I nursed my first until 19 months got my period back when she was 16 months old my 2nd until she was 18 months my period came abck when she was 14 months old and my sone I nursed until he was 2 years and 1 month and my period came back when he was 15 months.
