Sunlight is made up of a range of frequencies of light i.e. a range of colours, which in certain weather conditions can be seen separated out as a rainbow. Check out Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon" album cover showing the same effect through a prism.
Blue light has a shorter wavelength than other visible light rays and becomes more scattered in the earth's atmosphere than colours of a longer wavelength which can pass through the atmosphere relatively unaffected (try googling "Rayleigh Scattering") . This means that wherever you look in the sky you can see the scattered blue light.
The ocean appears blue due to reflection of this light, rather than the other way around.

The air in the atmosphere bends the light to meet our eyes. White light is made up of the light spectrum, the color of the rainbow. At the angle of the sky, bluw wavelength is reflected off into our eyes.

It is due to the differential scattering by the atmosphere of different wave lengths of light.

the sky is blue because it refelcts the color of the ocean! when you see a picture of earth from space, there is no color in the sky you ust see the ocean which is blue...therefor we see the sky as blue because thhat is the color of the oceans! If the oceans were green....the sky would be too!

Because Nitrogen is a greenish color, the majority gas in the atmosphere, add the yellow of the sun and it turns blueish
