A couple days ago i was going through my computer deleting some crap i had put on like random things that i know wouldn't harm my computer and after deleting some things i looked at my computer and at my memory and it had gone from 1.62 to 1.49 free space in 2 days and i didn't install anything new... anyone know whats going on? thanks a bunch

More than likely temporary files building up or system restore. Just go here and get this program and run it once a week.

could Be your hard drive being used for system memory, Back up, Internet files, Temp Files,

Things that can be changed or deleated.

1.Deleat all cookies and inter Net cache
2. Check on how much virtual memory is being used.
3. Restore points, U can change how much HDD is used for system restore.
4. Could be a virus but unlikely

You are talking of hard drive storage, not memory.

If your hard drive has that little free space it is likely not a true measure of hard drive space available.

Let's assume you have a 40 GB drive (small by today's standards) and you have about 1.5 GB free. Clearly you have 96.25 % of the drive full - which is way too full to help. Remove more stuff.

what is happening is that hardrives store differently then flash so any program or file must take up a certain amount of space (allocation unit) what this means is that files must fill up empty allocation units to make the hardrive usable if you right click on a file on your hard disk and click properties it will give you the file size and size on disk the size on disk will always be the same or bigger

surfing the web uses disk space by storing temporary cache files on your disk. this is normal. also, your computer uses virtual memory which uses your disk as RAM, that's normal too.

you can reduce virtual memory or reduce internet cache if you are really worried about it, but not recommended,
