Yes have you ever heard of the giant madagascar hissing cockroach.
They say that although it looks repulsive it is one of the tastiest insects you will ever eat.
In relevance to other roaches no you can't eat some of them not because they are not high in protein or anything like that but because some roaches can carry disaeses like asthma.
I wouldn't recommend eating any roaches that are around your house although I'm sure you wouldn't right?
The roaches that live around your house probably came from the sewer and most likely can carry tapeworm eggs or other harmful bacteria.
The only types of roaches that MIGHT be safe to eat are the ones that live in the wild. In some indigenous parts of Africa the giant cockroaches are a delicacy along with other insects they are a good source of nutrition
Also I don't think the common cockroaches around your house might taste good at all. They might be "toxic"
because they roam around in the sewage and eat there that can't be healthy at all
Its like this; alot of animals that live in urban areas or in the city are most likely filthy take for example the birds; alot of them have diseases
Hope this answered your question

Theoretically, yes, in that you can certainly eat them.
Many cockroaches raised in questionable sanitation may have any number of parasites or other nasty things living on or in them. I'm not sure I'd eat one unless I was desperate.
And if you cut open a cockroach, especially ones that have grown up on leftover human junk food, you'll find they're basically a big glob of fat with legs. Good eating if you're starving, but probably not the healthiest snack as an addition to a normal diet.
They're not poisonous, though.

Sure, almost all animals, bugs, etc that are proven non-toxic are edible. They might taste or smell odd but it probably won't kill you. In some countries people eat this kind of stuff all the time. There's a show on the Travel channel called Bizarre Foods With Andrew Zimmern and he was in the Phillipines the other day eating crickets, coconut grubs, and mangrove worms!

Although it is not a delicacy, people do eat them according to this report...not preferable...but they do market them.
The ability to spend our hard earned cash must play a role in our food decisions and what’s good and what’s not. Sam, our guide in Viet Nam, when asked about the mystery meat during one dinner said, “oh, you wish it was cat”. Why do we wish that? We asked Sam. “Cat is very expensive and is mostly exported to China”. He replied. “We can’t afford cat here”. Is cat good Sam? “Oh yes, if you can catch it”. Who would actually want to eat some of the things that we humans eat? I’ll tell you right now I’d have to be near death with hunger to eat a cockroach, in any preparation, yet I’ve seen them in markets for sale.

I have heard and read that they are eaten in China and Myanmar and other places of that region. I have heard that the soup made by boiling cockroach is taken to cure asthma.

since they are part of the arthropod family in the animal kingdom, yes, they are edible. It's scientifically no different than eating a lobster.
