I ran into the mother of an old friend one day. She had just come from her father's funeral and was a little down. I sat and talked to her over a cup of coffee for about 30 or 45 minutes and when I got ready to leave she told me I made her feel so much better and she was glad to have known me for so long and that I had grown up to be such a good, responsible person. Just the tone of her voice and the fact that I had been terrified of this woman (she was a very strict mother) made her statement memorable for me and I took it as a great compliment. No matter how many times someone compliments any material things I might possess, I've never felt as good about the compliment as I did about her comments that day.

A few weeks ago my 96 year old grandma, after 30+ years told me "you are finally becoming handsome".
She rocks!

wasn't really a compliment but when you are told that someone will always love you, is kinda nice..
