Just trust the coach. The coach will find the best compromise between your son's talents and the teams needs. If he's good enough to play in college, his college coach is likely to move him to the best fit for that team anyways. So just relax and let him have fun!

If he can tackle, MLB would be the answer. Because he was a wrestler, he could also be one of the smaller lineman positions such as TE, C, or G. DE would also be a good position for him. On a side note, the best lineman on our team (we are going to be freshmen) is only like 5'7 150, and wrestles, but he just dominates in all aspects of the sport. On the flipside, we have guys that are 6'3 250 pounds that still can't block. Football is mostly about heart and skill, so a player any size can still be good, ecspecially at this level.
Also, a friend of mine is about the same size, and he is a great fullback (although he is lightning fast, fullbacks dont use as much speed.)

With his size he is really small to play any of the lines and if speed is not his things them receiver and corner are out also. I was about the same size in High School a little taller and after I hurt my knee and came back Coach moved me to Strong Safety till I recovered my speed.

Hes the right size for a DB position and HS football is more about running the ball anyway so SS given his skills as a wrestler might be a perfect match.

And don't really worry about the speed he'll be running a lot he'll gain some out there.

Zloar's got it right...

We can't really answer this based on just the height & weight data you've given...

The coach will evaluate his skills and try him out at several different positions to see where he has potential. The wrestling is a good start for a lineman, but he doesn't really have the weight to go with it...

Tell your son to work hard, NEVER QUIT and let the coaches do their jobs and you'll both be fine,

Good luck!!

The wrestling definitely helps. But, please stay out of it, let the coach decide. He should know where his personnel fit best. However, tell your son to tell the coach that he's willing to do anything to play and he doesn't care where. If he doesn't start or play much, have him volunteer to fill in on special teams, 'all of them.' Then, have him throw all he's got into it and practice hard 'like there is no tomorrow.' 150% on every play, football coaches love the "RUDY" mentality. He'll be successful if he does. (OH YEAH, "LOVE FOOTBALL"). He'll eventually find his "SPOT".

He definitely needs to gain some footwork, quickness and speed. Wind sprints will help with that. But the coach will find a decent position for him, especially if he has some promise and upside to him. But most wrestlers tend to be very good athletes with great work ethics, good sense of body control and they know how to take care of their bodies very well, which will take them very far if they focus on the field like they do on the mat.

if hes strong id say dline
hes not that big so he can just fit threw the holes and stuff easily thats what i used to do.
and he wouldnt make it as a saftey, usualy the fastest kid on the team is picked as a saftey

my best guess is put him on the dline and let him fight his way to the qb

The quickest way to play alot is volunteer to play the line. You are in on every play and you are hitting someone every play. Tell em to try center, practice snapping and long snapping. Good luck.
