Yes, they can get viruses, but many viruses are written for Windows, not Mac. Although Macs are very much MORE secure, they still do get the occasional viruses. But because it is for the Mac, they don't make your system fatally crash, like in Windows! They also never get SPY WARE! NEVER! NO MORE SPY WARE OR ADWARE CHECKS EVER! If this question is about you getting a Mac...get one! There worth it! They are allot easier to use, and you do things with it that you could only dream of in Windows! If you are getting one though, wait until this winter. The new operating system for Mac OSX is coming out. It is sopose to be great. So if possible..wait. I hope this helps!

They actually can get virus', yes, But there are a couple things to consider why most often they don't.

1) If you were a virus programmer, which would you write an Operating system that has over 90% Market share, or one that has slightly over 3% Which would have the most effect ?

2) The typical skill (but not all) of Macintosh users are generally more computer savvy. Therefore they would have more ability to deal with or prevent such issues in the future.

3) As pretty as it looks, Mac OS X is really a Unix based Operating System. This is generally a far more robust and definitely a far more developed Operating system ( Been around for over 25 years and is the basis for the Linux Operating system. )

4) Programs and applications are not as plentiful for the Mac as they are for windows, therefore, Apple has the chance and oppurtunity to proofread and test software heavily before it hits the market.

Granted it's not "bulletproof" it is a very hardy Operating system that tends not get a case of the nasties.

No this is not true.

Windows is more popular, with about 95% of all pcs being Windows pcs.

Virus writers want to inflict as much damage as they can. There are so many more victims to get by writing bugs for Windows. Therefore, to do the most damage, they target Windows machines.

Also because there are far fewer MAC machines, MAC targeted viruses do not get the public attention.

It is not that MAC is better, it is because virus writers get more fun out of creating more havoc and this is why they go for the big target.

a mac could in fact get a virus, problem is that people making these viruses want to affect people of great numbers, not the few people that actually use a mac.

here is a report of a mac virus well moreover worm:

yes this is real.

look at the infection amount:
"Number of Infections: 0 - 49"

this is why you don't see many mac viruses

Anything that connects to the internet can get virus' even cell phones!

Thats why they are bringing our virus protectors for cell phones now.

Because Mac's are not as predominately used the people that write the virus programs focus on the majority of users, that would be Windows to get the bigest bang for their buck as they say.

They want to take as many people down as they can with those virus' so they go after the majority of users.

False, the heyday of Macs in the market is long gone into history books. Along with virus-writing.

No, the thing is that viruses are made by people . You could get a virus if u download a file with a virus. It does not matter what kind of computer company it is !!!!!!!!!!!!!

No, just not as many exploited vulnerabilities as Windows. They aren't bullet-proof.
