I kicked a metal shelf and pulled my big toe nail half off. When I went to hospital, the nurse told me that what she was about to do would make me feel some slight discomfort!!! She then proceeded to stick one enormous needle into the bone on the outside of my toe and another right up to the hilt in the space between my big toe and 2nd toe. Painful as that was, it was nothing compared to the pain when she got hold of the nail and tried to push it back into it's original position. I hit the ceiling! Tell me, do nurses understate the amount of pain you are going to feel out of sympathy or for a laugh?

The worst is when they tell you what you are feeling! I once had an operation on my arm, and I was supposed to have a nerve block in my shoulder, so that when I woke up my whole arm would be numb and I would not feel a thing. Well it didn't work, and for two whole days I was feeling raw, surgical pain, and until the anaesthetist finally stuck his head round the door and sheepishly admitted the truth, the nurse would not believe me and kept telling me it was all in my imagination!!

Both. Depends what mood we are in and if we like the patient lol. The longer your a nurse, the more warped your sense of humour gets. Fact!

Don't blame the nurse for your own stupidity...lol. Nice try though.
Believe me, nurses are not like that. They are really angels with invisible wings! I hope you remembered to thank her when she was done.
