Depends how much practice time u have. U can learn basic guitar (3 or 4 chords and strumming - enough to sing a few songs) in 3 weeks. Hope this helps.

It depends soley upon your drive, motivation, and will power to move beyond sore fingertips and learn that you won't play the guitar proficiently overnight or in a month or two--unless you're a guitar genius.

I'm self taught with never a professional lesson, but gleaned many tips of rhythm strokes, runs, lead-ins, riffs, harmonics playing, and most important: the knowledge to read and write music.

I developed a style similar to Chet Atkins and Carlos Montoya, watching particularly the smoothness and dexterity of Chet and imitating his delivery.

What is it you have at home--a guitar and a teacher or simply a guitar? Take lessons if you can afford it at a local music store. They cost around $12.50 for a half hour to $24 an hour.

A question for you: What is so difficult to typing the word 'the' instead of 'da?' Are you that complacent to show the world you do not use correct English?

From a qualified teacher you should be doing OK in a few months with one lesson a week. If you want to become a master of classical method, six years.
