1 ft = 0.3048 m

1 sq ft = (1 ft) x (1 ft)
= (0.3048 m) x (0.3048m)
= 0.0923 m*m
= 0.0923 sq meter

Let me answer the second question first. There are 9 square feet in One square YARD. Since a square YARD is a little smaller than a Square METER there will be 9.something+ square feet in a square YARD. Figure out the relationship of this problem then divide the result by 9 to get the first answer.

To figure out how many square meters are in one square foot you must first know how many feet are in a meter.

1 meter = 3 feet (roughly)

Therefore one square meter = 1 meter x 1 meter = 3 ft x 3 ft or 9 sq ft

So 1 sq meter = 9 sq feet , but your wanting to know how many sq meters are in a sq ft, so you need to divide both sides of the above equation by 9.

1 sq meter / 9 = 9 sq ft /9 which would give you

.11111 or 1/9th sq meter = 1 sq ft

Make sense?

To put it another way, 1 sq foot is express in the units ft^2. To convert to m^2, convert feet to meters (according to Google's calculator 1ft = 0.3048m) and then square that number (0.3048m)^2 = 0.0929m^2. So one square foot equals approximately 0.0929 square meters.

1 ft = 12 in
(12 in) (2.54 cm/1 in) (1 m/100 cm) = 0.3048 m
now square this to get 1 ft²= 0.09290304 m²

(1 m) (100 cm/1 m) (1 in/2.54 cm) (1 ft/12 in)=3.28083989501
now square this to get 1 m²= 10.76391 ft²

There 2.54 centimeters to an inch or 0.0254 meters = 1 inch.
1 square inch = .0254* .0254 sq m.
so 1 sq foot = 12 * 12 sq in = 144 sq in. so:
144 sq in * .(0254 * .0254 )sq m /sq in = 0.09290304 sq m

if 1ft = x m

then 1 sq ft = x^2 m^2

just set x to the value

2.54cm=1 in
12 in=1 ft
so, 30.48cm=1 ft which means there are .3048m = 1 ft

.3048^2 = .0929 sq m ( that's a rounded answer)

.0929/1 = 1/x
x=10.7639 sq ft ( again, that's rounded)

1foot =0.3048 m
so 1square foot = (0.3048)^2=0.0929 m^21
and 1 square meter = 10.7639square feet
