Lets start out with some basic information.
Bettas are part of a family of fish called laberyth fish, named so for a special organ in their head that allows them to breath air. They stay relitively small (usually no more than 3 standard inches) and as for aquirium fish go, have a moderate life span (5 to 10 years). In the wild, they live in areas where there can be moderately poluted water or low oxygen waters, thus the ability to breath air.
Goldfish are types of Carp. They get moderately large as far are pet fish go (12 to 16 inches) and live an exceptionally long life (easily 30 or 40 years, documentation has some at over 70 and even 80 years of age). They live in cold, relitively clean water.
However it started, goldfish are the worst fish to put in a bowl. Bettas on the other hand are much better suited to live in such an enviornment. If you change half the water in a bowl every few days, along with the other care a betta needs, bettas can live for some years in a bowl. Goldfish cannot.

A betta is easier to take care of then a goldfish in my opinion. Those little goldfish at the store can grow to be upwards of 9 inches to a foot long. Plus goldfish produce a lot of waste and are not supposed to be placed in a tank with other species. They produce a lot of ammonia and this means they really require a good filtration system. Betta's can live alone or in a community tank with other fish. It is a common misconception that people are not supposed to put betta's in a tank with other fish. It is only an issue if there are other betta's in the tank. Hope that helps

The betta will be easier to take care of, b/c they don't require much maitance. A goldfish on the other hand is a messy fish and their bodies produce amonia, which will cause the water to be cloudy. Both of them in a seperate tank would be fine though. I know that they can live together, but I don't think that the betta would be very happy with a goldfish as a tank buddy for several different reasons. (1) The goldfish will push into the betta and follow him around b/c goldfish like company. (Betta's don't like friends)
(2) The goldfish will make the ph a little to harsh on your betta, it will make him unhealthy. (Not a happy fish)
Those are just a few that I can think of off the top of my head.

Simply stated, the goldfish are...primarily, because they can be fed less, and require different maintenance that the betta. The goldfish, however, require a bit more water changes that the betta, because they pollute their own water fast. You have to set aside some time for the water changes, but do not change any more than 1/4 (25%) of the water with fresh, treated water. The betta, can be introduced into a Community tank, where it gets along with all kinds of fish. Ask a petstore which are compatible. The tank can then take less changes, provided in both instances that you have a good filter. I have tons of fish, and some are huge, some are not so big. I love 'em! Hope this helps you decision.

I can't think of one goldfish that can co-exist in the same tank. Bettas are fighting fish and though they can live with other fish, they fight anything that appears like them. Goldfish are the number one fish that would "threaten" a betta. They are colorful and have very flowy fins. Exactly what a betta will attack.
If you're trying to choose between the fish, then bettas are easier to take care of. Goldfish have a lot of waste which in turn creates a huge bioload. You will need a filter with them and at least a 10 gallon tank. No heater needed with a goldfish, or a betta but a betta would appreciate one.

NO attempt finding out to purchase a e book they're generally around £2. each and every fish e book will show you how to already know which you want a sort of filtration, and a water condidtioner devoid of this the fish will go through untill it dies by using ammonia poisoning and stagnant water. If it does stay to tell the tale this then there's a great substitute it gets some intense ailment which would be untreatable untill your water high quality is suitable. the only element ideal for a bowl is flora -- A PLANT? a plant won't help in any respect as this is going to easily decay because it demands a mild and fertiliser. attempt getting an aquarium with a mild and filter out then get white cloud mountain MINOWS, a goldfish is for a pond look on the dimensions they boost too. and a Betta is a tropical fish meaning they require a temp of around 24c hence you want a heater additionally. yet to respond to your question none are greater easy as you feed them everyother day or so and do a water substitute as quickly as a week on the two fish serup. Goldfish notwithstanding at the instant are not ideal for many aquariums

You can put both in the same tank. They both need the same amount of care. Daily feeding and monthly tank cleaning. Betta don't fight or eat goldfish, they only fight other male betta for territory. Betta should not be put in a fish tank with a filtration system as the current is to strong for them, and they will die of exhaustion. Go to a pet store and get some stress coat to treat the water first. this puts a small amount of algae in the water which will help keep the oxygen level in the water in check and cut down on the ammonia that is produced from they're waste. You should also get some chlorine reducer to put in the water to treat it. Let the water sit over night before adding the fish. Then put the fish in for an hour with the bag open so they can acclimate themselves to the water. Good luck, and enjoy the peace and tranquility fish can bring

definately betta gold fish can live without a air filter ive had many a goldfish with a tank but betta are easier they can live in smaller tank because they are surface breathers meaning they come up to the surface to breath and they are definately cleaner than goldfish goldfish are really dirty and bettas come in all different exciting colors and styles while all gold fish look the same. So your fish can be apart of your room decor. :)

The short answer is no they can't.
Because the goldfish will quickly out grow a 5 gallon and the betta prefers much warmer water than the goldfish.

Goldfish need air pumps while bettas come to the surface to breathe air. I wouldn't put them in the same tank.
Bettas are easier to take care of.
