Chicago has a great *FREE* zoo called the Lincoln Park Zoo. I went there with my inlaws who live in Chicago last year and it was great. Clean, spacious, petting zoo! Fabulous animals. I highly suggest it! See the link.

In the city:
Museum of Science and Industry: lots of hands on exhibits
The Adler Planetarium: sky show and also some hands on exhibits
The Field Musuem of Natural History: too much to see in just one day!
The Shedd Aquarium: Dolphin and Whale show. Underwater diver periodically feeds fish.
These last 3 are all within reasonable distance of each other in what is now called Museum park, located on north Lake Shore Drive.
Museum park is also near Millennium Park which has an interactive fountain and exhibits.
This is near Grant Park which has lots of summer festivals that are free, but usually very, very, croweded.
Lincoln Park Zoo has free admission, but parking costs about $14.00.
The Art Institute located on Michigan Avenue is a must for art lovers. Has one of the best collections of paintings, sculptures and artifacts in the country.
Six Flags Great America is located about an hour to hour 1/2 (depending on traffic)outside the city in Gurnee, IL
Ravina Music Festival is located just outside the city (north.) Great music in an outdoor venue. Concerts are offered in the late afternoon, early evening. Pricing varies, lawn seats are cheapest and the most fun.
Brookfield Zoo is located in nearby Brookfield, IL
How could I have forgotten Navy Pier? Theater. Largest Ferris Wheel in No. America. Artists and bands, great restaurants!
Daley Plaza has outdoor events and indoor exhibits for free during the afternoons.
Metromix.com is a good website for checking out events in the city.
Have fun.

For family fun in Chicago, the best place to visit is Navy Pier. There are rides, amusements, cruise boats, shops, a children's museum and great places to eat.
A few blocks north of there is Oak Street Beach which is free and fun for the whole family.
Have a great time!

sears tower super usa the place are you coming from? i like the lakeshore in Chicago The artwork museum is spectacular, however the toddlers might could be a definite age to have fun with it. in any different case, they have an excellent aquarium, the museum of technology and industry has numerous hands on stuff for toddlers to do. field museum's kinda interesting, in spite of the undeniable fact that that's alot of collections, so probable no longer for toddlers. and that they have a stable planetarium. The museums are all placed in approximately a similar section, via the outstanding mile. even with the undeniable fact that the museum of technology and industry is a mile or 2 extra south than the rest. and there's a park interior the section that's truly intense high quality and on the lake. Downtown is an somewhat tremendously section. i distinctly propose super usa, nevertheless.
