It's not by chance but by genetic design.
How do you trust your thoughts? Never stop being curious, even when you think you have all the information, allow yourself the freedom to be wrong sometimes and then correct yourself as quickly as possible.
If you are not crazy and not on drugs, your brain is probably telling you the truth about what's happening around you.

The movie "Dark Star" explores phenomenology, "Bomb, how do you know that you exist?"

Thought is the engine. Inputs also matter toward the output. An axiomatic system is no stronger than its weakest postulate.
(physical reality) - (empirical reality) = faith
Faith is destroyed if it works. If you have faith you can only be denied. Test of faith!
Schizophrenia is rogue thought disconnected from empirical reality. In the New World it is usually medicated into oblivion. In the Old World the sufferer is educated in what constitutes reality and what is noise. Pharma allows huge pateint throughput to obtain great profits. Who cares about the patients? There are always new ones appearing.

Interesting question. The answer depends on one's perspective as shown in the answers. Religious people are more likely to site god and non-religious or science supporters are going to mention evolution.
The actually complexity of the brain is technically not by chance but by an organization of genes communticating their plan to proteins that help build this amazing organ. Scientists generally do not say that the human brain is developed by "chance" but by millions of years of evolution. There is a lot of evidence to support their theory of evolution. " Chance" is what scientists generally say when they speak of the beginning of life on earth not the human brain in particular. The human brain is of a by-product of that "chance" rather than the chance itself. I recommend that you read recent books on the evolution of humans to learn more. It is quite fasicinating. As far as "trusting ones own thoughts" is a tricky question to answer. We are still trying to research the conscience and the intricates of thinking. In an individual sense, you might want to consider your thoughts as the essence of your existence. If you cannot trust your thoughts, then you cannot trust yourself, can you? Because your thoughts represent an insight to your "soul", I encourage you to try to be positive with your thoughts.
In a religious perspective, many people do not believe that we happened by chance, but by the hand of God. Perhaps this is true. Afterall, no one was here on earth 3 million years ago to see how things came about. Scientists are just making educated guesses and they should be respected for trying to find a physical answer to why we are here and for what purpose. Also, religious people should be respected for their views because maybe they do hold pieces of the absolute truth about us and god.
Hope this was insightful. Have a good day.

Hi. Not by chance but by evolving. Those with non-useful brain function did not reproduce as well. Trust your thoughts? That's another story.

nicely, out thoughts seems greater effective than something that replaced into prepare by capacity of "risk" Our thoughts is particularly efficient, we merely purely use approximately 15% of it on average. So, why wouldnt you have confidence your guy or woman thoughts? your on top of problems with them (particularly some the time) your thoughts dictates what you do, decrease than your command, in case you prefer to develop a finger or %. something up. I ont particularly get why you wouldnt have confidence your guy or woman thoughts, except you have had a traumatizing adventure or something emotional is inflicting your thoughts to act by capacity of itself devoid of your approval.

My opinion it's not by "chance" but to answer your question...you don't. One day you just may go bonkers. That's why it's important to have GOOD friends and/or counsel who aren't afraid to support healthy descisions and tell you if they think something is amiss.

Our brains were created by God. Not from evolution.
Can anyone explain HOW our brain evolved?

You need to define 'we' and 'our thoughts' before talking of trusting and not trusting.
