I went to feed my (out of town) friend's koi today and they were gone!!!! There is intact predator netting, no fish "bits" to indicate an animal, fish are not dead (Full view of pond available). Have you ever heard of fish stealing???????

if the entire pond was emptied i think you have a human preditor. an animal would just take what they could eat.

There are many animals that are often smarter than netting. Raccoons are popular preditors. They can pull the fish out and away from the pond. There are also many predictory birds that could if the netting was just big enough.

If you think you are 100% sure that it couldn't be a preditor, then someone could have stolen them. I've heard about this many times. Certain Koi and fetch very high prices (some easily go for thousands of dollars). If you have an expensive one, someone could think about getting the money off of it, or someone could think they could get money off of a cheap koi, not knowing how to judge the value of them.

Raccoons are clever and can often defy predator netting. They will carry the fish away somewhere safe to eat it. They are the most likely thieves. Egrets can also fly in and steal a fish or two. they wouldn't leave any clues either.

Oh, I would not put anything past people. Koi is kind of expensive. They could have stolen them. But don't entirely rule out animals either, especially raccoons.

they could have been stolen and sold to a pet store or someone with a backyard pond. a large bird could have eaten them without leaving a trace. the fish see a shadow and come to the surface expecting to be fed and are instead eaten. the fish are swallowed whole and the bird flies off.

That happens more often than you might think. Large Koi can be quite valuable and like anything thing else of worth, people do steal them.

yep happens all the time. Just because there isn't any fish bits doesn't mean and animal didn't take it. I know there is a netting, but racoons are crafty little creatures and they will take it else where to eat it.

A lot of people are different from doing something professional orientated like school or work, to going home and being yourself with no peer pressure involved. Its not considered two-faced. And are you sure you have you facts straight, because that’s how rumors get started.

Yeah, my boss said that happened with her koi. She can't pin it on them for sure, but she says that her neighbors suddenly had very similar-looking fish in their pond...
