Trying bottoming is a really good suggestion. That's how I found out I was versatile, too. But there are some things to takes notes on for improving your topping skills:
1) FOREPLAY. Women always nag straight men about this, but they're not the only ones who like it. A good top should be just like a good bottom when it comes to foreplay...You love the body of the man you're with, so for God's sake, show it! Kissing, nuzzling, stroking, massaging, finding all the "sweet spots" is one great, hot appetizer to the main course, and one that too many tops sadly tend to ignore.

But for some tops, their nerve endings are too sensitive to stay hard and stay inside their partner. And some bottoms are too tender to take more pounding after they've come. This all goes back to point number two. Make sure that unless you've had a mutual orgasm, that neither of you is left unsatisfied. Masturbation or great oral to help your partner out after you've come is also very hot. And the same goes for him helping you. Nothing kills a great time like the "wham-bam-thank-you-Sam" method.

As someone who likes to bottom most of the time. I let the top I'm with know what I want and how. There 's room for experimenting too. Have fun with it. A good thing to do is to bottom for a few times and see what feels good to you, usually that same things will feel good to whoever you're with. Listen, and read body signals. They will let you know what they want. The best thing is to get together with a power bottom, then you don't have to wonder, they will tell you quite verbally what they like, and how they like it. Plus it's really hot.

Easy, talk to the bottom you want to be with.
We each get aroused by different things, much like each top is different. No one thing works on everyone, what one loves, another will surely hate.
So to be the best you can ever be, talk about it, communication is key to a great sex life. Communicate beforehand, which is also great to get in the mood, and after the fact, so you can improve for next time.

All you need to know on how to be a great top...is if you know how to use what you got properly. You just got to be good in bed is all! Find out what sex position is the bottoms favorite. You just got to experiment and find the right "groove" so to speak.

What you should really do is try being a bottom once. That way you can experience what he is feeling.
That is how I figured it out and learned that I was versatile (rather than being a total top).

Well every bottom is different, usually can judge by their reactions how you are doing and what to do. You can ask the person you are having sex with what they like. Usually the bottom will tell you, as they want the sex to be amazing for them and for you!. Good luck! :)

You have already answered your own question you should ask the bottom what they like and they should tell you and its hot if you ask.and try please the bottom...according to what they like.
