I am a 20 year Marine, father of 4 and gay.
I work on my own cars, build mascot costumes as a hobby, camp and fish.
I play football, softball and volleyball.
I am 6 foot 2 inches, 220 pounds.
I wear jeans and t-shirts unless I am going out some place nice.
If you met me in public you would never guess I am gay (unless I was with my bf and even then you might not) There are lots of gay men just like me.

I´m not lesbian or gay but I do know that the stereotypes you described do apply to SOME people. but very few. mostly it´s just men that like men with small but noticeable differences, such as tighter clothes, different way of walking, and a slightly higher-pitched voice that sounds girly, for women on the other hand, it´s barely noticeable unless they decide to follow the stereotype, they (most) wear normal clothes, and look normal in every aspect, except some may have a different stance, more burly body, but not necessarily like those women on steroids.. u had the right idea pretty much gays and lesbians are just men and women that like the same sex. wow, that was long....I hope i was able to be of some help.

To you above my answer: You are just one person. You may have relented along with 5% of the rest of the population. It is those who refuse to live and let live that are making the gay community continue the fight for fair rights as given to us by the constitution. When the majority of the population gets at least to the point you have made it then the fight will be over. And I want to say congratulations on not judging people for their sexuality. It is appreciated.
People are people.
It is wrong to catagorize any one group since everybody is an idividual and has individual traits.
Not all gay men are girly. Not all straight men are macho.
Not all lesbians are macho and not all straight women are girly.

I think it's pretty much a 50/50 here. There are a lot of men who do indeed act like women, but, there are just as many men who act like men. The same goes for women.
Instead of worring about stereotyping people why don't you see if you can't treat all God's children exactly the same, with kindness, love and respect. If they live by the Golden Rule, they will treat you exactly the same way.
Good Luck

When people form a household together, some of the work that has to be done is stereotyped "manly"-- cleaning gutters, mowing lawns, and so on, and some is "womanly" like vacuuming, cooking, etc. If two men make a household together, either one of them has to do "womanly" work or they have to live in filth and order pizza every day. Then sometimes when a man gets a chance to try cooking, he likes it! And if he's already admitted to his friends that he's gay (which is a big admission) then it's no big deal to say "oh, and I also like making homemade stuffed pasta, it's delish!"
So, to answer your question, probably lots of straight men would do "womanly" things if they got a chance to try it and liked it. Probably quite a few of them already do, but they'll never tell anyone but their closest friends!

Well I'm just a guy who's attracted to other guys.
In my experience very few people are actually stereotypical, but they're often the ones in the spotlight, so most people think it's the norm, but it's not.
But whether we are stereotypical or not doesn't matter in the end, because we're still people, and should be treated with respect regardless.

Not all gay men are girly, not all lesbians are masculine.
Gay folks, like str8 folks, are a diverse group. Stereotypes are just the easiest cop-out for ignorant people to fall back on.
Don't stereotype anyone, find out who a person really is, and base your opinion on that.
Thank you for asking and having an open mind!

Gay men and lesbian women both fall on a whole range of masculine, feminine, androgynous, gender-neutral, and "other". Straight culture (and in some respects mainstream gay culture) has fixated on feminine gay men and masculine lesbian women because they represent some fear or fantasy or something that a lot straight people have about gender.

I am a manly man. I drink beer, fit stuff, and love sports. But I also like the dress nice and go out. I like to shop too. I think most gay people are more well rounded than you think.
