Remind him that he is only 6 and cannot claim his winnings on his own.

Well, first of all me and my son don't argue, I'm the parent ....... he has to listen to me. He can express his opinion ....but I won't call it an arguement. If he won 20 million 20 seconds later, after he cooled down, he would still take care of his mama. He has never stayed mad at me more than a day or two. But then I'm a fair mother. When I have to speak to him about something, believe me, it was well deserved.

Get him a lawyer and a financial adviser and make sure he doesn't waste it on stupid stuff like satin sheets and fast cars. He'll be a billionaire.
Just because you are arguing doesn't mean you don't love each other. I would be so happy for him I probably wouldn't even remember what we were arguing about.

If you have children you know you'll always love them no matter what. In fact you would give up your very life. No one can know that for sure until you actually have kids. If he won 20 million it's his to do with what he wants. If he wants to share it, his choice. If he want's advice as to what to do I would give it. But would I ask for some...no.

I might try to advise him about investing enough in guaranteed return rate accounts, so he wouldn't blow it all...

Since he would have to be over 18 to win... there's nothing else the parent COULD do. Its the kid's money.

If the kid wants to keep it all... his choice.

Well unless he's 18 he can't claim his winnings. You would have to do that for him. Then you could ask him if he wants to keep arguing or does he want his winnings?

say congratulations, but he's still wrong about the argument. if he just won $20 million, i doubt he'll care who was right or wrong.

I think with all of the excitement I would wonder what we were argument about and guilt my way into a slice of the pie!

Give him the guilt trip on how I was his mother for so many years and "who was the one who took care of you when you pooped you pants?" THEN he'd hand over the money!

Forget the argument and hug him and be excited for him.
