i will try to make this as short as poss. when i was little my parents bought a few acres of land, my grandma helped with the down payment, she didn't want my dad to be able to get the land if my parents divorced so it had my name on it and my grandma's. the deed was lost in a flood several years ago, the man they bought the property from has since passed away. i want to sell land as it is just sitting there and we aren't using it. my mom has been paying the taxes on it for about 25 years. what do i need to do to sell it? by the way my last name has changed twice since they signed my name on the land. i know it sounds bad but my grandma is in her 70's and i want to take care of it while she is still with us. i live in indiana.

You should be able to get a duplicate from the county recorder of deeds where the land is located. If the sale of the land was recorded properly, then they will have a record of the transfer to your name.

Contact the county courthouse that the property is in and tell the operator that you need a copy of a deed, she will direct you to the correct department and they can get you a copy as well as a plat map that will show you the exact location and detentions of your property.
