For those that said yes to this question you deserve whatever you get. So much for the land of the free and home of the brave. We need to take the power back.

Remember, the terrorists hate us for our freedom - so the less freedom we have, the safer we are!

Giving up our liberties totally negates what makes this country great in the first place. And for the people who want to keep guns because the constitution allows them to in order to form a militia against a corrupt government - - how can we do that if they're spying on us?? Freedom is protection from a corrupt government.

Interesting question that is always asked in the same way. How about asking if we'd give up security or more liberty?

There has to be a balance somewhere and these kind of questions merely lead to useless arguments between both right and left wing morons.

1.) We already have, and I don't feel more secure.
2.) No, because having no personal liberties (or reduced ones) makes us LESS secure.
3.) There are so many other things/issues that can be fixed, and yet the first way people want to solve problems is by giving up their responsibility, their liberty, their selves, for .... what?

Adding - With liberties come responsibility. That's obvious. Maybe people just don't want to be responsible anymore, so it's easy to give up liberties.

Not without a fight. Members of a free society have to take responsibility for their own safety. When we give anyone power over us we stand in great jeopardy of becoming slaves to the very person or entity we asked for protection. A very dangerous premise.

Peace.

No thanks! What new security measures would that be? A chip in my arm so you could watch my every move? I would just like to be left alone.. There is enough curious weirdos on this planet already. We shouldn't have to produce more off the sort.

absolutely not. we need to hold on to all the freedoms we can because they are being eroded away by our own government. they promise us security but from what terrorists? they've already proven incompetent when it comes to terrorist attacks. so really we do not gain security, only the illusion of it, and would you give up your rights for that?

No. I'm apposed to gun control and I'm not thrilled about the Patriot Act which also robs us of our freedoms.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it's my understanding that under the Patriot Act, anyone can turn you in and not give their names. So that means if you have a disgruntled neighbor or an enemy of sorts, they can turn you in to the government under some sort of pretense and you are now under their scrutiny. I disagree with that wholeheartedly!

No. Ben Franklin said "those who would sacrifice liberty for security deserve neither liberty or security."

I think its a compelling argument.

YES!!!!! Search me all you want at the airport, listen to my phone conversations, put cameras in my house. I am not a terrorist, and I am not doing anything wrong or illegal. You liberal nut jobs need to wake up and see what is really going on. If you won't be inconvenienced to protect yourself and your country you need to smack yourself in the face and get a clue.
