Yahoo answers has about 600 to 700 "questions" posted by the "whispering campaign" mentioned by Fiona Phillips in the Daily Mail.(see the reference below) Many are libellous, many are simply cruel, others are euphemistically phrased to avoid weak censorship .Many are accompanied by laughter and the fact that the McCanns are successful doctors is mentioned often. I think the government should ban the internet being used for hate campaigns, this is not "free speech" because many of the questions and comments are well within the scope of our British laws of liable if said in public.

Samantha M, the very comparison between Madeline's eyes and the Google OOs is frankly one of the sickest camparisons I have ever seen You make an apology of sorts,do the decent thing and make a full apology to the McCanns .

derbyandrew. Sincere thanks, your point about Yahoo Answers condoning the promotion of the petition is one I share. In fact I report every one I manage to see. The thing is as soon as I manage to have one deleted some "person" posts another in a string of disguised questions. Yahoo Answers either are not able to notice this obvious spam or turn a blind eye to it. I predict government legislation against internet companies which allow hate campaigns.

Well said and eloquently presented. You are obviously an intelligent individual who has a mind of his own unlike the no-brain sheep who have jumped on the anti McCann band-waggon. A lot of the stuff I have read on here about the McCanns is obviously libellous. I would be interested to know if the people hiding behind their keyboards could actually be traced and sued for their defamatory remarks - it is in print and in the public domain so classes as defamation. I also agree with your other point - I am all for free speech but not when it is racist or libellous. Also YA! seem to be condoning the anti McCann lobby by allowing the petition which is on here - surely this is a breach of their own rules?
Maybe the McCanns next appointment will be to hire a Lawyer to sue all those who have made defamatory remarks on here. That'll get a few arseholes twitching......

Do you send spam? Just wondered because most of your answers are 'simple' cut and paste jobs. And your usual answer when people call for an investigation into the neglect of Madeliene McCann by her parents you say this is not a British way of thinking. What and neglecting your kids is a British pass time now? And just for the record no I dont send hate mail, I just simply go online and sign a petition to make social services investigate this family. This doesnt mean that they will automatically have their kids removed from their care, it means that social services will be aware of the situation and work with the family to make sure they can become responsible parents Why is a hate campaign when we disagree with blatent child neglect but its perfectly alright for you to slander people non stop?

I asked a genuine question which you reported:
Madeline McCann?
I wondered if anyone has donated to the 'fund'. If so, what does it pay for exactly? The balance on 11/06/07, the fund account current stands at £721,748.84
It is not a hateful question but a plea for the facts which I have found out despite your futile attempts at being a know-all

They probably are not open to prosecution, since petitions can be started to change laws. The signers are insensitive people and I wish someone could start a petition to NOT prosecute the McCanns - their level of suffering is already way higher than any British court imposes.
When I read there was a petition to seek legal action, I was outraged that people could do that. My first reaction was to try to start a petition to show support. I thought of a petition to google to help them advertise their case - not the best idea upon reflection and not needed since they achieved it on their own.
However, you responded to my question about starting a positive petition by calling me sick and said I am part of a hate campaign and that you've reported me to Yahoo!. Wow, I agree my idea was naive, (as if I could influence google) but as for being part of a hate campaign - nothing could be further from the truth. I myself was kidnapped for 12 hours and simply wanted to do something to help, even if it wasn't the smartest idea it was certainly not motivated by hate - I was looking for a positive petition to sign and couldn't find one so thought of creating my own. I think a petition to NOT prosecute the McCanns should definitely be started since everyone I've talked to feels terrible for them.
P.S. you are talking about hate on the internet. I read your profile and found it to be hateful towards minorities

If you let your view of the world be dictated by the gutter press, that's your problem.
I find it disturbing that you treat as fact, a personal article written in that bastion of democracy, The Daily Mail.
Your repeated calls for legal action may one day come back to haunt you. Someone might just call your bluff.

Libellous posts certainly lay the writers open to legal action. Yahoo also could be named in any libel suit, as it is deemed the "publisher". It would be for the McCanns to decide if they wanted to take this course of action. Now that it seems that their daughter has indeed been murdered by SOMEONE ELSE, I suspect suing for libel is the last thing on their minds. I hope the people posting these vile rumours are happy.

Barrie G: Who rocked your tree, then? I'd calm down mate. None of us are getting a kick out of the McCanns. The only person getting a kick is people like you who think it's a perfectly justified excuse to throw accusations and verbal abuse at innocent people like myself and others.
Also Piltdown Man: You really want to go to court, don't you? You're threatening it to everyone, even Yahoo! for heaven's sake! I'd watch what you say, I know for a fact several users here have noticed your racially-aggrivated comments and are prepared to show it to whoever you choose. Just don't bite off more than you can chew via the legal system, right?
