Has anyone had this experience? Please tell me about it. I work at a local hospital, in Environmental Services. Lots of the employees Human Resources has hired are below any hospital standard. I have performed with the intention of moving on to other hospitals should i choose. The last 6 months our supervisors and director tell us the contractors are there to help us out. I have only been there 5 years-there is a RUMOR going around that these contractors may replace us. Don't know who started it or how long they have been there. IT IS NOT UNCOMMON FOR HOSPITALS, or businesses, TO UTILISE CONTRACTORS. Our management has assured us it is just a rumor. The rumor persists and the contractors are there everyday. However, i do not see anyone BOLTING to find another job. I say they perform below standard because the EXCELLENT employees, throught the hospital, have DISAPPEARED-don't know if they left on their own or what. Many good emploeeys have DISAPPEARED and management KEEPS the bad ones.

A lot of companies will keep people who are less expensive to pay. Contractors very often will do they same job but for only a fraction of the cost. Sounds crazy doesnt it? especially when they do a terrible job right? Go to your head HR person and talk to them. Tell them how you feel about this if you are really conserned. Hopefully they will realize that cost isnt as important but who knows. Companies are cheap especially if you work for a city or state run hospital. Best of luck to you

the "they are there to help you out" is such a typical statement. There is a reason why the staffing agency business is growing exponentially. After the "help you out" excuse, be on the lookout for new policies, processes, and procedures, and outside "efficiency" consultants who begin interviewing current employees to ascertain that they have all of the necessary tools and resources to do the job. I am not kidding. It is so transparent.

If there are no new recruits to replace those who have 'DISAPPEARED' as you say and as soon as you sense pink slips flying in the air!
