With the facts as presented, I'd ask to be induced at 39 or 40 weeks if I were you.

have you checked to see if your insurance company covers being induced? I have a hereditary problem that keeps me from dilating any further than 2 cm on my own, but the insurance company I had with my first pregnancy would not cover the cervidone I needed until I was at least 42 weeks, because it was considered being induced. This new insurance company will cover the medication at 40 weeks, so I have already discussed this with my doctor and will be induced on my due date. If your insurance covers it I would say go for it! the rumors about being induced being more painful are false. I only pushed for 45 mins and had an easy delivery.

If this is a different Ob than your previous pregnancies make sure he knows about the past births. Let him know your concerns an discuss an early induction, it sounds like you will need it done around 36-38 weeks. He may want to do an ultrasound and an amnio at 36 weeks to see how the babies size is and if the lungs are developed enough to be born early.
Best of Luck to you!!

I had the same thing happened with me i was induced and i had to have oxygen and the babys heart rate would drop and his cord was around his neck. You could ask to be induced at 40 weeks or sooner if your doctor believes the baby is in some sort of distress or if the baby is large and well developed sooner. Tell your doctor now about your concerns and dont let them just blow you off get answers and their opinoin.

Hi, i agree with jzgermany if this is a different Doctor then let him/her know about ur past pregnancys...also if you are not going into labor at 40 weeks then yes i think you should ask to be induced, but to be honest the doctor prolly will not do it unless there are any complications...Good luck

No I wouldn't ask to be induced, because an induced labour is often more intense and faster/harder than a spontaneous one, and more likely to have complications leading to interventions such as assisted delivery, caesarean, episiotomy etc. It is always best to wait and see if labour will start naturally if you have no medical indications for induction.

I was induced with all five of my children and I never had any complications. I would talk to your obgyn first and discuss it. Every dr. is different and every womans body is different. There is no black and white answer here.
