What about yogurt? I know cow milk is a no-no but is yogurt different since it has "live cultures"?

yes, they can actually DEVELOP an allergy for these things if given too early. Your not always just born with an allergy. the baby can develop it It doesn't mean they will but you just don't know that so its best to wait.

no eggs, strawberries, cows milk or chocolate till 12 months

no peanut butter or peanut butter products till AT LEAST 2, 3 is even better

I would be thinking that the longer you leave it eg 2yrs or more then more likely a reaction, I have heard after 1 yr, if its peanut butter usually its spread over toast or something and only a thin layer anyway. Its an interesting concept of waiting to give all these foods when allergies are on the up, where as yrs ago they gave kids foods early and there wernt so many reactions, in saying that though I still believe breastmilk or formula for the first 6 months

If they are allergic to it, it is already there. Feeding your baby peanut butter will not cause him to become allergic. With my kids (I have 4), I waited until they were a year old before introducing any of the "high allergy" foods to see if they were going to have a reaction. Their father and I had no food allergies and figured the kids would be the same. I wouldn't suggest feeding him any of those things before he is a year old. You should stick to formula and baby food that carries the nutrients that he needs for his age.

not only that, peanut butter can be a choking hazard, even for older kids, peanut butter and jam on white bread....is a really bad coking hazard!!you know what is it is like to eat peanut butter,, all sticky hard to swallow some times!! I would advise youdo not give peanut butter untill---your child is a good eater.. and make the sandwich on brown bread, it willcut down on the stickyness...

YES, since your baby's immune system isn't fully developed until 3 years old, it is very dangerous to give highly allergenic foods too early. Six months is VERY young. Your baby should only be getting formula/breastmilk, rice cereal, baby oatmeal, and 1st foods types of baby foods. If it comes as a 1st food, then it is safe, otherwise wait until your baby is older.

You can develop allergies to anything at any time of your life, even if you have been ok with it before (think of people who develop hayfever and allergies to penicilin later on in life). I wouldn't give it to him for a while because at that young age if he is allergic it could be quite bad and his immune system is not fully developed yet.

NO PEANUT BUTTER UNTIL AGE 2. That's what my doc says. Your doc should give you a list of things for your baby to be trying and at what age to give it to them.

you shouldn't give your 6 month old any of those things. right now it should only be eating baby food and formula.
