Please help, I need advice. Ultimately I will have to make the decision but I am so confused.
I am almost done with college, and I have two options with $3,000 saved up and I can do either of the following.
A.) Move out of my house, move to a big city and get my own apartment and job. Be on my own pretty much and experience a new city and life.
OR
B.) Go to Japan for one week for a vacation, stay with a host family, and experience a completely new culture for one week only.
PLEASE HELP and give some advice on what to do. I am clueless.

Japan. Check out some websites to see if there's any kind of volunteer work you could do that would allow you to stay longer. I think GoAbroad.com used to help with this kind of thing, although I haven't visited it in ages.
For three thousand bucks you should be able to do more than a week!
But even if you can't...still go, as long as you know that you have a cushion when you come back. You won't regret it, and it will give you some perspective to start the rest of your life with.

You have the money now, so I suggest going to Japan. It will be an experience you'll never forget. Once you are on your own, money will be hard to come by. If you are in a situation now, like living w/ partents you will have a place to come home to and live rent free and be able to save up for an new place.

Though it is great to visit other cultures, and this is an opportunity, it is one week to use up your savings.
Take your money and start your life. I do not remember who said it, but "I am going to live the next 10 years like nobody will so that I can live the rest of my life like nobody can."
Read "The Richest Man in Babylon" and anything by Robert Kyosaki
And do not take advice from most people in this country because we have become an instant gratification society...and it is leading most of us to not have retirement.

Japan will only last you one week....The big city will last you a life time! I'd start a new life and be on you'r own..it'll be for the better in the long run!

Well experiencing another culture would be amazing....most likely once and a life time...how long did it take to save up that money? And you might need more than 3000 to move to a whole new city and start fresh..unless you already have a job offer and everything. Weigh the pros and cons....

Japan! Travel is as important to personal growth as school was.
work/careers/apartments will always be there. If you don't go to Japan now, while you are without very many outside obligations, you will only regret missing the chance later and for the rest of your life.

in 99' i visited Japan with a group of class members and i had a blast. we were Freshmen in HS so it was supervised by a few adults, but we still skipped out and walked around at night and partied. we stayed in the Kyoto Hotel in Kyoto, Japan. we rode Shinkansens (Bullet Trains) to various cities like Tokyo and Hiroshima and saw amazing sights like Shinto temples, Museums and even a building that withstood the bombing of Hiroshima in 1945. the week flew by, but it was absolutely worth it. if you have friends over there or some that will come with you, your experience will be even better.

Your job could potentially provide you with the funding to take a longer trip to Japan, later on, and you could literally experience a new culture on a broader scale. Your choice.
