We see it all the time - I'm scared of terrorists, I hate 'libtards', I hate Hillary, I hate gays, I hate blacks, I hate Jews, I hate Hollywood liberals, I'm scared of gays getting married, I hate Mexicans, I hate illegal immigrants, etc. etc.
Why are they so full of fear, hate, and anger? Especially hate, since most conservatives are also Christians, and last I heard they weren't supposed to hate people.
When you think about it, Bush got re-elected on fear and hate. 9/11, 9/11, 9/11, if you elect Kerry we'll get hit by terrorists again, 9/11. Why do these emotions resonate so much with conservatives?

I think you hit the nail on the head, but you're thinking about it from the wrong angle. It's not that conservatism an cowardice go hand in hand naturally... But a lot of people are afraid. A lot of people need an enemy to make themselves feel righteous. The pseudo-con pundits (your Limbaughs, your Hannitys, your Coulters, etc...) simply play on that fear to bring these sad souls into their camp. All you have to do is tell people they're under attack and they'll follow you anywhere.
Think about it this way: Have you ever lost a job to an immigrant? Neither have I. But if you tell these people that immigrants are coming here to take their jobs... they'll be afraid of just that. If two men you'll never meet get married to one another, does that make your marriage any less valid? Of course not. But if you tell people that homosexuals are destroying marriage, they're afraid of that and now they're on your side. The bonus for the pundits is that this kind of hate-mongering also makes these poor sheep feel better about themselves.. They feel like the righteous few that have to defend themselves against the 'invading hordes'.
Here's an interesting point to notice.... it's well before the primaries, and there are already smear books out on the top democratic candidates... Have you noticed any smear books about the republican candidates? Didn't think so. Fear and smear are the favorite tools of the right, and they're effective tools.

That is a sweeping generality based on your own perceptions. I do see some hateful comments from both conservatives and liberals and have theories as to why that is so. Imagine what it would be like for Conservatives, after 6 years of control of the Congress and 8 years of the Presidency their political party loses the Congress Majority for two years, Then the Presidency for four years, then the other party gains a filibuster proof Congress for another two years? They keep hearing from Rush, Cheney, and Palin that the goals of the new leadership is to bring an end to their prosperity and freedom. That a means to defend your self (guns) will be taken away. That they will be taxed into poverty. In order to understand the behavior a person needs to understand what the underlying cause there is for it. That is why Conservatives have become hyper-alert and easily alarmed. How might you feel about that? Would you feel empowered or that your destiny has been place into the hands of a political party that you have come to believe is evil? You do not trust them and are worried about what is going to happen. How might you react to such a perception and having that weight on your shoulders? What might you do?

Hate&fear are very powerful motivators. The cons use that motivation to get their way. When people are suffering, and finding it hard to make ends meet,it's easy to get'm all angry at somebody. Then it's easy to put the misinformation on the evening news, and folks eagerly eat it up ! Terrorism works two ways...terror itself,..then using the threat of 'terror' to get people to do what you say. In our case the 'terrorists' are helping the cons take away out Bill of Rights, and our freedoms. As long as the cons can keep shaking the threat of 'terroristism' at us in the news, the fear keeps us hating ! Now we're getting tired of the constant fear ! If the Bushrovians don't pull off another 'False Flag Operation' the level of fear will fade to the point that there crimes will be evident to even the most ardant supporters of this Criminal War ! But if there is an attack on America again, all bets are off ! Lets hope that our Constitution can survive the shredder !

You're very uniformed dear. I am a conservative married to a legal mexican. The only problem that us "conservatives" have with illegal immagrants is that they come to our country and go to our hospitals which by the way our tax dollars have to pay for because you know they don't have medical insurance. As far as "blacks" go I don't have a problem with them either. All I care about is that they have a job and are doing everything they possibly can to support their family. I did not re-elect Bush because I thought John Kerry would get us attacked again I elected Bush because Kerry is...well and idoit. About Hillary Clinton, I actually like her. I think she is very well spoken and there for the people as much as her own career like every other ploitician.
Now the thing about being scared of terrorists, sweetheart they are really out there and 911 really could happen again, but scared we are not, better informed maybe, more prepared maybe, but scared we will never be. There is no reason why we can't be cautious and protect ourselves from potential harm.
I am not quite sure who you hang around with but all conservatives that I know are honest, respectable, honest people who just want what is best for everyone so we can all just get along.

I would think that it really isn't conservatives that have the problem but the more ignorant people who fear the constant changes that make up our world. You only fear something you don't understand. It is very easy to not be able to understand other cultures and belief systems. Fear is also a great way to control people as the lessons of history have taught us. Take for example Xerxes, how easy it was to control the budding nations he wanted by simply showing a huge force and slaying those who opposed him even in the slightest way. The world fears another Hitler because of what he showed himself capable of allowing when he was in command, like the inhumane experiments of different ways to kill off large amounts of humans at once. You don't have to be a conservative to be controlled by your fear. You simply have to be human and uneducated.

Looking at how the thumbs are being applied here I think a number of individuals need to look in the mirror.
Let me just address your hate of homosexuals line.
In my home state of Wisconsin we just had a vote on a constitutional amendment on gay marriage.
In a state where Democrats won everything, this amendment got killed.
The simple answer is Democrats killed it.
While many Democrats do not approve of gay marriage it is always liberal haters of conservatives who lay the hate card on conservatives on this issue instead of honestly looking within their own party at the people there who do not support the issue.
For every libtard you can show me I can show you someone on the left who throws out repukes or some other such silliness.
Seriously, you should try and debate someone honestly on the issues instead of throwing around labels.
Just because someone disagrees with you does not mean they hate you, or that you should hate them.

I don't know who you've been talking to, but maybe you should expand your horizons and hang out with other people.
I'm a Conservative...I'm not scared or mad & I don't hate anyone...and what's a libtard?

That's what cons and most religions in fact are all based on fear. Fear of going to hell, fear of other people and cultures. Security is another word for fear. That's why everyone is so greedy, they are afraid.
