The House of Representatives passed a bill which closes loopholes which prevented the National Criminal Background Check System from finding the VA Tech shooter, thus allowing him to purchase a gun and kill 32 people.
Yahoo has a headline calling it a Gun-Control Bill when it has NOTHING to do with gun control. In fact, the bill was endorsed by the NRA and you all know how they feel about 2nd Amendment Rights.
Are they pandering to the Gun-Control crowd or just too stupid to understand what went on in Congress yesterday?

THAT'S JUST THE WAY THEY ARE. DON'T TRY TO ANALYZE THE LEFT OR YOUR HEAD WILL EXPLODE.

Actually, if you read the bill, it does not just "close loopholes"...

If a judge orders any sort of drug treatment for you, or you are considered an "offender," you can go on the banned list. And judges who want to take peoples' guns have incentive now to adjudicate people as "mentally ill," like Cuba does.

And all the veterans who have suffered from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder...well, guess what...they now show up in the NICS database.

It's no wonder the main sponsors of this bill get F- (extreme anti-gun-rights) ratings.

Ridiculous assertions on your part.

The NRA has been consistantly against background checks for decades. The smoke and mirrors another poster mentioned belong to your side of the debate.

I challenge you to find and publish the stated bill on this thread, and let us discus the details. It was, in fact, a gon-control bill, in that it established background checks... but in fact, read properly, would not have prevented what happened at VA tech, since the local gun sellers were on record opposing further background checks, and would have sold the guy a nuclear bazooka if his money was green.

The same reason Conservatives twist everything, it's spin done for rating and done for public approval. It's very much a two way street and just the way we do it in this country.

I used to think that liberals had a master plan and worked together to distort the news. I now believe that they report the news as they see it. Of course they see a distorted viewpoint and that is what they base their thinking on, but they are not intentionally trying to distort.

They call them as they see them just like Faux news. The only difference is that the slant is different and so the view is different. Stick more with Reuters.

Yahoo doesn't write headlines. It isn't a news organization; it's a search engine.

And your link is...?

It IS gun control. So are gun safety classes that the NRA supports.

Why do Conservatives needlessly blame institutions instead of actively working toward their goals?
