Is it possible to be racist against your own race by feeling guilty about past history?

My theory is that liberal white males blame their own race for the problems of all other races.

Well, remember the startling research in the 60s that found black children preferred to play with white dolls? The thinking was that these children had absorbed the negative messages about themselves so thoroughly, they rejected themselves based on race.

Your theory about liberal white males makes no sense. Since I live with one and am the daughter of another, I can say they are well aware that the USA is a white supremacist nation, recovering, and that they benefit in many ways from the color of their skin. They don't hate themselves and they don't blame themselves for all problems all people encounter.

That said, they do not pretend to themselves that just because some guy who looks like them did something, that that something is automatically okay.

I most certainly do not feel guilt. I have done nothing wrong and have gone out of my way to try and accept everyone as an equal until proven otherwise.

If you don't think bringing people to our country against their will, turning them into slaves, and not recognizing them as human beings until the 1960's doesn't hamper the progress of a race, then you're wasting our oxygen.

And just because civil rights were brought about in the 1960's does NOT mean that it's been practiced across the board.

My theory is that most conservative white males tend to assign blame to everyone except themselves. They are selfish, lacking empathy, and discriminate against the same people they accuse of blaming others for all their problems.

I bet that sounds familiar, huh?

I'm a white male, not liberal though. I personally don't feel guilty because I took no part in it, but I acknowledge the fact that white men managed to ruin a lot things that were pretty good in the world.

Human civilization is dynamic and does undergo constant changes resulting in inevitable variations in the understanding of past history and occasional misinterpretatioin thereof! This is part of evolution and self-criticism forms part of that process.
In the light of the above reflection, the conduct of the liberal white males in question is understandable and pardonable!

Not all liberal white males are like that. By the way, I am liberal, and even though I have ancestors who fought for the Confederacy and who owned slaves, I don't feel the least bit guilty about it. After all, my ancestors' deeds are no reflection on me!

Are you trying to say white man didn't exploit, murder, rape etc. the Blacks, Chinese, Indian and any other non-white race? Hell how about when the Irish came here? Understanding the sins of the past may help prevent them in the future. We are all human and in this together.

You are an individual, You had no say as to what color you were going to be when you were born. So being born white doesnt make you automatically guilty of other white people's mistakes
