The test line has to be the same color or darker than than control line for it to be positive. A woman always has LH in her system and the test line can be faint, or not there at all, and it doesn't matter, because it's still negative. My lines change color from day to day, but when it's positive, it's obvious. Also, I missed my ovulation the first month used these tests because I was doing them just 1x a day. I do them 2x a day now and I always catch it now. My posiitve only stay that way for about 12 hours, so I have to do it 2x to get it. I do them 1x at 12, and 1x at 8pm. A websight that has helped me alot is

www.peeonastick.com.

It shows examples of ovulation tests that are negaitve and positive.

She ovulated yesterday. The LH surge happens 24 hours before ovulation. After that it goes down and it causes the line to be faint.

YOU MISSED YOUR OVULATION TIME. HOPEFULLY YOU DID IT ON THOSE DAY THAT WERE DARKER. ALWAYS DO IT 3 DAYS BEFORE THE OVULATION SO THE SPERM COULD BE WAITING THERE FOR THE EGG. SPERM LIVE UP TO 5 DAYS
