It's Cockney rhyming slang for 'snooze'

Other examples would be 'plates' (plates of meat ; feet)
'Titfer' (Tit for Tat : Hat)
Barnet (Barnet Fair : Hair)

It was a method used by cockney market traders, often illegal, to confuse the police by using words that rhymes with what they really meant so that they could only be understood by someone who knew the slang terms.
