Would it be a good thing or bad? Do you think we would find out much more or just end up either being killed or killing them off?

ever see jurassic park?

I honestly don't think our world is big enough for them anymore. Not to mention most people don't give a damn about things that want to eat them so would be less willing to protect them (not to mention we don't have a good handle on our own greed meaning poaching would probably be a big problem).
They went extinct for a reason- to maintain animal kingdom equilibrium. They most likely would starve- instead of worrying about a dino famine we should worry about famine that affects our own species around the world.

Well, right now, cloning a dinosaur is impossible. There far too many obstacles to overcome. The cloning we are doing today involve using a living creature of the species being cloned to give birth to the animal. That is not exactly possible for dinosaurs.

From a scientific study, cloning dinosaurs would be very interesting if they could survive. The world is very different today that it was when the dinosaurs roamed about. I think that the scientists would be interested in seeing some of the behavioural aspects of the dinosaurs. Also, study of actual tissue from a living creature will give more information.

Other than the danger of an invasive species, I do not think that there is much danger in cloning dinosaurs.

While it is an interesting and challenging idea, animal cloning is still in its infancy and the techniques and cloning material simply isn't there. Nevertheless, the technology is mature enough to start laying the groundwork for such an adventure, I feel.

Conducting whole system genomic engineering with existing creatures and then reverse engineer their genome to arrive at something like a dinosaur might be a better more realistic approach.

You have to have an original to make a clone. How could we clone a dinosaur, unless it was something like a cockroach that existed with the dinosaurs, but who wants to clone a cockroach?

Good. I want a hadrosaur burger, don't you? Tastes a bit like turkey, but way leaner.
