Do you get left behind or do you have to repeat the same class the following year?

It matters on your schools' policy. But if you don't take any regents examinations- you can just graduate with a regular High School dipolma. A lot of teachers use the what you received on the regents as a final in my old school .So check with your teachers, first.
If you take the regents and fail- the regents itself you can always just retake it in Aug. If you fail both the regents and class- you'll have 2 and half months of summer school which would suck.

Unless it's a non-Regents course, you fail for the year. If you fail one class in high school, you just have to repeat the course. But why not give it a try? What do you have to lose?

if you, for some reason, missed the regents, you have to pay something like $25 to register to take it again in August. and if u dont take it in august, i guess you have to retake the course the following year, because for many classes the regents is the final, so yeah.
