Be 100% aware of your habit. Many times habits are done when people aren't paying attention. After they 'come to', they realize that they were doing their habit. Use a calender and mark the first day you 'quit'. This will give you a visual of your progress. Refer to your calender daily and check off the days you are habit free. DO NOT GET DISCOURAGED if you subconsciously revert to a habit once. This is not an end all. Trudge on! Reward yourself for milestones habit-free. The more you can stick to this, the more it will become a habit to not have the old habit. Good luck!

The only way to kill a habit is to change your behavior. It may be painful, uncomfortable or difficult, but if you can not do that habit once, you are on your way to breaking it.
