I'm currently making a stool (no jokes please) and I've tried sitting on it for about half an hour and my bum went numb.

On some chairs I've noticed an indentation pattern that is broadly speaking - bum shaped. What is the best indentation pattern I can use to stop my stool giving me a numb bum?

Any direction to web sites that deal with that area of carpentry would be welcome. Also what is the correct name for an 'indentation pattern' as I've chosen to call it?

Whilst looking for a new mattress for my bed I discovered the following:
1. If you sit on a "memory foam tempur mattress" ,for longer that 2 mins, when you stand up you will see an imprint of your bum .
2. Imprint there for quite some time!!!!! Plenty of time to measure length, debth and width.
3. Yes! apparently it's very accurate according to my now ex boyfriend.
4. If tempted to buy, please don't. Lot of money for a bed that Gives backache not relieves it. !!!!!!!!!!!!

You could make a plaster of Paris mold (or maybe use a beanbag) to get the shape. Then perhaps use that to make a template!

Here's an idea - get a cushion. Tie it on and voila! Numb bum no more.
